Ferro Chrome (FeCr)

Questions we are asked

Frequently asked questions

What grades of ferro chrome do you supply?

We supply high carbon, medium carbon and low carbon ferro chrome. High carbon typically runs 60–70% Cr with 6–8% carbon, medium carbon 1–4% carbon, and low carbon 0.03–0.15% carbon. Chromium, silicon, sulphur and phosphorus limits are set to your specification.

What size fractions are available?

Standard furnace grades are supplied at 10–50 mm and 10–80 mm, with other fractions crushed to order. We state a maximum fines percentage on every contract, because sizing on arrival affects your recovery as much as chemistry does.

Which grade should I order for 304L or 316L stainless?

Low carbon ferro chrome, unless you have AOD or VOD decarburisation capacity. An L-grade caps carbon at 0.03%, and high carbon material would introduce roughly 2% carbon at typical chromium additions — far more than those grades allow.

How is the material packed for export?

Commonly in 1 MT jumbo bags, and in bulk for larger shipments. Packing is agreed at order stage along with marking and palletisation requirements for your destination port.

Do you provide a mill test certificate?

Yes. Every consignment ships with a test certificate carrying lot numbers and the full analysis, traceable to the delivered material. Independent third-party inspection can be arranged where your contract requires it.

What are your minimum order quantities and lead times?

These depend on grade, size fraction and destination. Contact us with your specification, tonnage and delivery port and we will confirm both with the quotation.

Which ferro alloys does MLB Group manufacture and export?

Ferro chrome, ferro manganese, ferro silicon, silico manganese and ferro chrome silicon as bulk alloys; ferro molybdenum, ferro titanium and ferro vanadium as noble alloys; plus cored wire, foundry inoculants and ferro silicon magnesium.

What information do you need to quote?

The alloy and grade, your chemistry ranges including impurity maxima, the size fraction, tonnage, packing preference and destination port. If you have a standard specification, send that and we will quote against it directly.

Have a question that is not answered here? Talk to our team — send your specification, tonnage and destination and we will come back with a quotation.
