Years Experience
History of MLB Group
Foundation and Early Ventures MLB Group was founded by the visionary industrialist, Late Sri Manna Lalji Bhartia. The company began as an automobile workshop, the first in its region, coupled with a pioneering dealership of Caltex India Ltd. (now HPCL), marking its first steps in the energy sector.
Diversification into Glass Manufacturing The 1960s marked MLB Group’s expansion into glass manufacturing, serving notable distilleries like Carew & Co., Phipsons & Co. (P) Ltd., and Karamchand Thapar (Kct Group), including international clients in Sikkim, Bhutan, and Nepal.
Establishment of the Logistics Division1981 saw the establishment of the group’s logistics arm, catering to private and government sectors, including companies like The Bengal Paper Mill Co. Ltd. and Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL), with expertise in excavation and mining operations.
Foray into Steel and Ferro Alloys. A significant diversification occurred with the establishment of a ferro alloys manufacturing unit in Durgapur, West Bengal, catering to both domestic markets and indirect exports. This was followed by the addition of a second unit in Bokaro, Jharkhand, in 2010.
Venture into Packaged Drinking Water. The group expanded into the FMCG sector, establishing a packaged drinking water plant in Siliguri, West Bengal, in collaboration with Eureka Forbes Ltd. This venture led to the launch of the “FOREST FRESH” brand in 2020, along with the manufacturing of other FMCG products.
Expansion into Global Markets Utilizing its expertise and market goodwill, MLB Group established an export house dedicated to the export of ferro alloys, marking a significant step in its global outreach.
2023 started with the group stepping its foot in the construction industry with its 1st commercial warehousing complex established in Mangalpur, Raniganj an important junction amid many districts of Bengal, Jharkhand & Odhisha. A multistory housing project is also soon to launch in Ranging in phases by the year end.
